Safeguarding at Herne Bay High - A Parents' Guide

The safety of students is our priority at Herne Bay High School. A culture of vigilance and strong relationships helps staff keep your children safe.

  • Safeguarding Team: Led by a designated safeguarding lead, the team ensures quick and appropriate actions are taken if there are concerns for a pupil’s welfare.

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): The DSL oversees child protection and safeguarding, ensuring a safe learning environment and that children are not vulnerable to abuse or neglect.

  • Staff Training: Staff receive thorough training on risks facing pupils and know how to respond to concerns. The DSL and deputies receive ongoing professional development.

  • Policies and Procedures: Safeguarding policies are clear, accessible, and understood by all staff, pupils, and parents. Children know how to contact the safeguarding team if needed via posters in school, information from their mentor and year teams and via our concerns@hernebayhigh.org e-mail specifically for students with any concern.

For detailed information or to discuss any safeguarding matters, please contact the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs K Molloy, at dsl@hernebayhigh.org or by phone at 01227 361221 during normal school hours.

The full safeguarding policy and other related policies are available on the school’s website
