Course Guide

The programme of study in the Sixth Form at Herne Bay High is designed to provide all students with a the qualifications and skills required to supports their development and academic progress in line with their future career aspirations.

All students are expected to study 3 subjects and whilst the courses studied represent a substantive part of the study programme, all students have tutorial time each day, which incorporates personal mentoring. All students have the option to arrange their own work experience.  

Personal development is further supported through opportunities for leadership and responsibilities within the school, as well as in the wider community. Students are actively encouraged to take on Senior Student roles and volunteer within school.

Students progress to Higher Education, Apprenticeship or other training programmes. They are actively supported through the Sixth Form tutorial programme, PSHE, assemblies and the 6th Form Conference.

To join the Level 3 Advanced Courses students normally require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at 9-4, including Maths, English Language minimum Grade 4 and Science preferably Grade 4.

  • For some subjects the entry requirements differ slightly. For example to study A Level Mathematics, students need to obtain  a minimum of 5 GCSESs in the range of 9 - 4, including GCSE Maths Grade 7, English Grade 4 and preferably Science Grade 4.
