Post-16 Transport Consultation

Kent County Council has a legal duty to consult on its Post-16 Transport Policy Statement each year and to publish this to the public by 31st May. For the 2018/19 academic year, they are proposing to simplify the application process and reduce the cost of the Vacant Seat Payment scheme to £400 to align it with the cost of the Post-16 Travel Card.

The County Council will continue the favour the subsidy of the 16+ Travel Card as its main mechanism for supporting Kent's young adults in accessing a full breadth of education, training or work-based learning opportunities. The council also operates a 'wheels to work' scheme providing subsidised access to mopeds where poor public transport connections restrict mobility.

KCC is seeking to consult with parents and students as to their plans for the post-16 travel provision in the 2018/19 academic year. By clicking on the link below, you can access details of the proposed policy, further questions and answers and the feedback form for the proposals. The council would be grateful if responses could be submitted by Sunday 8th April.
